Fred Hayman Fragrances – Hollywood History is His Story

Fred Hayman was born in Switzerland in 1925. Today he is known for being a luxury retailer and as The Father of Rodeo Drive. The designer moved with his family to America and grew up in New York City. He started out in the hotel business working for the Hiltons in Beverly Hills. Using his gift for designing elegant rooms and events to attract the affluent Hollywood crowd to the Hilton Hotels in Beverly Hills was how his career began. The graceful sophistication these residents personified helped inspire him to open his luxury shop – the Giorgio Beverly Hills, in Beverly Hills in 1962. Its impeccable high-class service drew clients like Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Elizabeth Taylor to the shop. Fred became the fashion coordinator for the Academy Awards in the late eighties, further establishing his expertise in the world of fashion. Giorgio Beverly Hills encouraged the newly rich and famous to shop in their own neighborhood, rather than exclusively in New York or Paris, which is why Fred Hayman is considered “The Father of Rodeo Drive” and a symbol of the fashion center it is today.
